Comments:
The first owner bought the boat from the factory as a kit, but did not complete it. Around 1980, the second owner returned the boat to the factory, where it was completed. After a few years, it was sold to the third owner, who lived aboard and sailed it mostly around San Francisco for 15-20 years. At some point in the early to mid-2000's, it was trucked to Florida, where I bought it in 2006.
Teak on the exterior was recently restored and sealed with Cetol, along with the forward and lazarette hatch… so it really shines on the outside. The bowsprit and boomkin are Bud's upgraded SS. The interior condition is OK, but looks tired. Nice mahogany overhead in the salon and galley/nav station, and some kind of lighter wood for the cabin sole, maybe ash, but there have been some leaks from the deck (scuppers along the side decks, where the LP line enters the cabin, and the forward hatch), so the sole will need some refinishing, the shelves below the scuppers (e.g. in the galley and the nav station cabinet) should be replaced, and some of the ply decking in the forward part of the pilot berth should be replaced, too, at the battery access hatch.
It is really a strong and beautiful boat that just needs a little attention and handiwork... but not so much that it would keep you from heading out for a nice weekend cruise right now.
Accommodations:
V-berth forward; dinette to port, salon bench on starboard; pilot berth stern quarter. Cushions only for the V-berth forward.
Deck & Hull:
No record of blisters ever. Will need bottom paint (though it has been maintained).
Galley:
15 lb. aluminum horizontal mount LP tank, on deck between the mast and the companionway hatch; kill switch in galley. Two-burner stove and oven work great. Reefer insulation could be replaced if you want use the 12-v (Alder?) unit while sailing - for a weekend cruise, you could get by with a few bags of ice. Electric pump works; foot pumps need to be serviced.
Engine:
Perkins 4-108. Runs great; most of the oil lines have been replaced from original. Comes with the shop manual. Larger alternator.
Plumbing:
Unused (new c. 2006) Jabsco head included, but not installed. No holding tank.
Electrical:
Original electrical switch panel.
Interior lights are fluorescent tube lights (with red lenses for the nav station and galley); exterior/nav lights are incandescent.
Battery charger/inverter was new in 2006, I don't know the brand.
Electronics:
Older Garmin GPS/plotter, and older VHF.
Older Horizon depth sounder.
Older AM/FM/CD player.
Mast and Rigging:
Mast on tabernacle.
Standing rigging all strong.
Running rigging - halyards (3) and running back stays have been in the weather; sheets have been inside.
Barlow 24 self-tailing jib sheet winches.
Sails:
Main, yankee jib, and staysail all fairly stiff and in good condition. Tanbark. Reefing at the mast.
Ground Tackle:
CQR (45#) and Bruce (20kg). Danforth kedge/stern.
300' of chain, plus a length of 3-strand nylon for second rode.
Simpson Lawrence 555 windlass.
Extras:
Aries windvane works great, but needs new control lines, and a little cleaning.
The boat comes with a lot of spare parts, and a lot of tools.
Flares and fire extinguisher are up to date, but PFDs and harnesses are old school.
The iron fuel tank to port is still installed; I use the larger aluminum "upgraded" tank to starboard, and I'm not positive of the volume.
Will need a new bulkhead-mount compass.
Will need new canvas for sail covers and dodger bows.
No tender.
